Oil appearing around a turbocharger often leads to immediate replacement of the turbo core.
However, turbo oil control depends on both oil supply and oil drainage.
Oil Must Leave the Bearing Housing
A simplified lubrication path is:
Engine Oil Supply → Turbo Bearing Housing → Gravity Drain → Crankcase
If the drain becomes restricted:
oil enters normally → oil exits too slowly → bearing housing oil level rises.
Oil may then appear where it would not under normal drainage conditions.
